Mara

Mara was born in Mexicali, a border town, and moved to Southern California when she was three years old.  Mara told me “It is way too easy for our generation to lose ourselves in American culture and forget our roots, but that won’t be happening for me.  We will have Mexico everywhere you look!”  Mara’s finance Miguel proposed to her in front of her parents at her favorite spot in Guadalajara, the Plaza Tapatia.  Mara told me she wanted a vintage Mexican feel for her dress and that lace was a MUST.  She also wanted to incorporate the hand made lace veil her grandmother made for her aunt’s Quinceanera over 30 years ago.

Mara’s gorgeous Alencon Lace over Charmeuse gown is by Jim Hjelm (8011).

I truly admired Mara and her love for her mother & grandmother, and her devotion to her Mexican heritage! I also LOVED that she mixed these elements with a 50’s pin-up look to achieve her wedding day look!

You can just see the pride and love in Mara’s face as she showcases her Grandmother’s hand made lace veil. I always love when a bride brings an element of tradition to her wedding look. Now Mara can pass this veil on to other loved ones to wear at their wedding!

Mara’s color was RED. Her dramatic bouquet coordinated nicely with her striking red lips.

Mara wanted a vintage pin up glamour girl look. Paul did an amazing job on her retro-inspired hairstyle and Lesley nailed the make up with a stroke of heavy eyeliner on her upper lid.
