On the first season of Randy to the Rescue I got a crash course in “Steam Punk”. For season two, roller derby bride Stacey and her fiancé, Brandon, taught me about “Atom Punk”. “Atom Punk” is what people living in the 1940’s, 1950’s and 1960’s thought the future would look like, complete with rocket packs and all! Simply stated; Stacey came in wanting to look like Judy Jeston in a silver wedding gown. When I put Stacey in a silver gown, I quickly realized that silver was not a good color to compliment Stacey’s skin tones. Taking a chance, I put Stacey in a golden colored Melanie Harris gown with a bodice embroidered with silver metallic threads, crystal beads, and pearls that reminded me of the constellations. Even with her mom, dad, and fiancé’s encouragement, and even though she loved the gown, Stacey could not say ‘Yes”, commenting that the gown was $145.00 over budget! With the help of my expert hair and makeup team, Lindsay and Raychel, we completed Stacey’s atom punk look by giving her a retro-inspired hairstyle, makeup, and jewelry that added sparkle and gave references to the stars. At her reveal, Stacey was startled by how beautiful she looked. This fierce roller derby girl was finally ready to forget going $145.00 over her budget, and finally said “Yes” to this dress! Mission accomplished!

To help tie the bouquet in with Stacey’s futuristic theme, I hand wove strands of gold and silver wire and sparkling crystals throughout.
