With family pressuring her to wear an heirloom gown that her grandfather purchased 51 years ago for his niece and had been worn by both her mother and grandmother, Danielle came to Randy to the Rescue for help finding a dress that was her own.  Not only were we going to have to find Danielle a dress that she loved, which since Danielle was a former teen beauty queen wasn’t going to be easy, but we also had to convince the family that Danielle deserved to be able to choose the gown she would wear.  With a family full of outspoken women, this was not going to be easy!

Both Danielle and her fiancé Jeffery attended the same law school.  When a friend suggested a blind date with a friend of hers that turned out to be Jeffery, Danielle pulled up his Facebook profile and recognized him as the cute guy she had been too shy to approach a few years prior.  A chance meeting a few weeks prior to the planned “blind date” led to the two talking into the night while strolling the streets of New Orleans.  One year later Jeffery proposed on his birthday with a ring that had been his mother’s.

In the end, everyone decided that this ivory colored Enzoani gown (Dakota) was THE dress.  It spoke to traditional values but allowed Danielle to have a more modern look that flattered her in every way.  A simple ivory veil by Cheryl King made Danielle into the perfect bride without competing with the gown.

As a former pageant queen, Danielle was not shy of make up. Leslie gave her dramatic eyes and a color palette that made her green eyes pop!

Organza and crystal hair flowers from Erin Cole added drama to Paul’s modern sweeping up do that showed off Danielle’s beautiful neck and shoulders. Delicate drop earrings from Thomas Knoell (Ramona) added sparkle around Danielle’s eyes without taking away from the drama of the hair.

A crystal-encrusted bracelet from Thomas Knoell added the final touch of bling to Danielle’s completed “head to hem” makeover.

As a surprise for Danielle’s family, in the dressing room we had Danielle photographed in the heirloom gown and I presented Danielle and her mother with a framed copy of the photograph. We shot the photo in black and white and chose a pose we thought would create a vintage feel to the photograph. Maybe this will begin a new tradition for brides in their family to be photographed in the gown.
